Perched high above the city in Hudson Yards’ iconic Spiral building, the Zo Space is elevated not only by its architecture but by a refined curation of contemporary artwork. Every piece — from dimensional folded paper studies to giclée prints and hand-painted canvases — is carefully chosen to reflect themes of movement, light, and calm introspection. Framed in elegant natural woods and shadowboxes with non-glare glass, the collection balances restraint and richness. Organic forms, woven textures, and sculptural abstraction echo the biophilic essence of The Spiral’s design, while subtle palettes and layered compositions invite pause. Together, the art and the space offer a restorative visual rhythm — one that aligns with the building’s commitment to wellness, innovation, and aesthetic intelligence.

The client asked for an art program that would align with the sophisticated, social, and elegant tone of The Spiral’s amenity spaces, curated in tandem with Tishman Speyer and interior designers Michaelis Boyd. The brief called for artwork that would elevate the atmosphere without overwhelming it — pieces that feel refined yet warm, contributing to a sense of wellness, fluidity, and modern hospitality.

Key directives included focusing on materiality, light, and softness — using organic forms, abstract compositions, and a serene palette to echo the building’s architectural flow and biophilic design. The artwork was to foster a sense of calm and quiet connection, complementing interiors designed for both productivity and rest. The selection and placement of pieces needed to feel intentional, curated, and emotionally resonant — not decorative, but quietly transformative.

In response to the bold vision for 11 Hoyt, RAREculture approached the art curation with an emphasis on scale, color, and form. At the building’s entry, Cult Creative Studios (RAREculture’s in-house maker team) produced a striking 80" x 80" original painting, designed as a graphic focal point behind the doorman desk — setting a confident and contemporary tone from the moment residents arrive. Throughout the amenity spaces, we sourced a mix of limited-edition prints, original paintings, and sculptural works that brought geometric rhythm and bright visual energy to the interiors. For the children’s space, we commissioned a custom chalk wall mural, designed to feel both playful and artistic, inviting interaction while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. We also carefully selected a range of accessories and dimensional décor — from bold tabletop sculptures to thoughtfully placed objects — to ensure every space felt curated, creative, and uniquely Brooklyn.

“Fusing luxury with a relaxed, industrial feel is a common thread … It gives a space an instant sense of place.”

To bring The Spiral’s vision to life, RAREculture approached the project with a deep focus on craft, emotion, and material integrity. We began by sourcing handmade paper, folded and layered to create delicate, sculptural forms that evoke softness and shadow — an homage to impermanence and organic structure. Our team scoured auctions, archives, and private dealers to identify significant fine art pieces that carry both visual weight and historical resonance, ensuring each selection felt purposeful within the elegant, social rhythm of the space.

We also enlisted some of our favorite emerging talents, including Jenna Krypell, whose work in mirror and paint creates a compelling tension between reflection and abstraction — perfectly suited to the building’s light-filled, architectural flow.

In addition to the artwork, we curated a library of art and design books, along with carefully chosen accessories and decorative objects that speak to both refinement and curiosity. Every layer was considered — from the visual pacing of wall pieces to the sculptural gestures of tabletop moments — to create a space that feels elevated, personal, and quietly magnetic.

“The Spiral is … a distinctive and impressive 66-story office tower that has recently become a cherished part of New York City’s skyline.”
